Author’s Talk

Lynette Blair Mitchell

I’m Lynette Mitchell – born and bred in North Carolina, a passionate UNC fan, a book lover, a writer, and owner/operator of a childcare center. More intimately, I’m a wife, THAT mom, a breast cancer survivor and a deeply flawed human being who is passionately loved by God. However, at the beginning of 2013 I wasn’t sure if God cared about me at all. After a cancer diagnosis and the death of my sister, things got a bit testy between me and the GREAT ONE. But over time I came to the stark realization that humans – doctors, friends and even family members – are not equipped to provide all the comfort, wisdom and peace needed to survive tragedy. I found myself drawn more intensely to my Christian faith.  As I drew closer to Christ, I began to see big and small miracles almost daily that sustained me. Sometimes it was something as simple as the kindness of a store clerk with Down’s Syndrome insisting to tie my unlaced shoe and then looking deeply into my eyes and saying, “Have a great day.” Other times there would be “what are the odds” moments that have no way of occurring without divine intervention – like the one you are about to hear. — Lynette Blair Mitchell
