"Four Angry Men" by Joel Nelson
– taking liberties with la belle France
A young American Army officer in France races to introduce himself to the local police.
Joel Nelson lives in Marietta, Georgia. As a 4th-grade schoolboy in 1946, he wrote a two-paragraph essay on the meaning of freedom; a half-dozen of those words ended up being quoted in the Boston Globe. This is his first published work since. After 20 years in the U.S. Army followed by 30 as a physician assistant working in a psychiatric hospital, he’s been retired since 2009.
