Author’s Talk
Cappie: The Boomerang Horse is one of many stories reflecting my journey has a horse woman and equine enthusiast. I have loved horses from childhood, reading every horse book in our local public library, but never riding or owning horses until I turned 41. I had my first trail ride on a Tennessee Walking Horse palomino mare and was hooked. Trail riding and the Tennessee Walking Horse breed have been my passions ever since.
Always an avid reader, writing is actually a newer interest since I’ve retired. Many of the lessons learned with my horses translate to this new interest as well, such as humility, persistence, patience, dealing with frustration, reaching out for help, accepting critiques, and being the least experienced writer in the room.
I am constantly intrigued of all I need to learn regarding the riding, training, care, and health of my horses and, at the same time, humbled by all I don’t know--yet. Each horse that I have owned has opened a new learning experience. I have many stories yet to share of lessons learned and of the equines that have graced my pastures. Thank you for joining me in this journey.
